Nicky Hayden is ready to contest the final round of the 2012 season before turning his attention to 2013 during the post-race test session on Tuesday.
"We have a couple of small updates to try, but it takes time to prepare new parts - the Kentucky Kid said - The new bike should be ready for the Jerez or Sepang tests. I don't know Dovizioso very well, but he's very experienced and I'm expecting some good ideas from him as a teammate. I'm also curious to see how the GP12 performs at this track with the new asphalt. It should be better than Phillip Island, where the bumps were a big problem for us."

Ducati Team hopes to continue good record at Motegi
As the Ducati Team focuses on its job of improving the Desmosedici, the fifteenth round on the MotoGP calendar, set to kick off on Friday at Motegi, will provide the team’s technicians with an opportunity to check the setting updates on a track where the Italian bike has traditionally worked well.
The Japanese circuit, where the Ducati Team has collected four wins and one additional podium finish, last year saw Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden working well on their bikes’ setups, enabling them to lap at a good pace all weekend, although their respective races were affected by a crash and an off-track excursion.

Guareschi: “The worse outcome was a bad scare for us all”
Nicky Hayden and Valentino Rossi both had costly off-track excursions in the early stages of the Aragon GP, with the former crashing upon striking a tyre wall and the latter having to fight through the pack after re-entering the circuit and completing the first lap in last place.

Rain affects free practice at Aragon GP
The first two free practice sessions at the Aragon Grand Prix were affected by bad weather. The first, which was postponed by one hour in order to clean up an oil spill that had occurred during the Moto3 session, was rendered useless by mixed conditions, which were neither entirely wet nor entirely dry. The second, which was completely wet, could prove to be important if the forecasts calling for rain in tomorrow’s qualifying session are correct.

On an event-filled day at the GP di San Marino e Riviera di Rimini, Valentino Rossi had his best race so far aboard the Desmosedici. In sunny and warm conditions, the Italian made it to the second step of the podium, having ridden at a pace that was second only to that of the winner, Jorge Lorenzo. The first start was cancelled, but Rossi enjoyed a great getaway when the red lights went out for the second time, and he exited the first turn in second place. From there, he held off attacks from first Stefan Bradl and then Alvaro Bautista before taking the chequered flag.

The Ducati Team is preparing for its second home race of the season, which will take place on Sunday at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. The GP di San Marino e della Riviera Rimini is also an important round for Valentino Rossi, who lives near the circuit at which he has posted two wins and an additional podium finish. Nicky Hayden will return to the track after incurring an injury at Indianapolis that also forced him to miss the following Grand Prix, at Brno. The American has been undergoing rehabilitation in the United States, and Friday he’ll test the strength and endurance of his right hand, which had suffered two fractures. As usual at Misano, the Ducati Team will be supported by Ducati fans in the “Variante del Parco” grandstand, which is situated near the first corner.

Marlboro Ducati's Valentino Rossi wrapped up his two-day test at Misano today, the Italian turning in some 80 laps while continuing to work with a new frame and swingarm - updates he'd first sampled during the post-MotoGP test at Mugello on July 15 - with the new components slated to be on the Desmosedici at the next round.
"We carried out a series of tests with the chassis, and the results were interesting, though they still have to be checked against the other riders," Rossi said in a team release. "We also worked on the bike's setup, with the goal of trying to limit the drop in performance that we usually suffer after some laps, as the tires wear. We had some promising signs there as well, and we'll check them again in a race context."

MotoGP News. The ever-consistent Nicky Hayden is rewarded for his sixth place charge at Laguna Seca as he surpasses Valentino Rossi in the overall standings.
Nicky Hayden has moved ahead of Valentino Rossi in the 2012 MotoGP World Championship standings after notching up his equal-best finish of the season on home soil at Laguna Seca.
Fresh from the announcement that he will remain with Ducati for 2013, Hayden's race nearly came to an early conclusion when he clashed with Alvaro Bautista on the start line, the contact prompting caution from the American initially as he slipped to tenth.

Dennis Noyes reports on Valentino Rossi's options for 2013 and how the subsequent dominoes could impact American GP pilots Nicky Hayden and Ben Spies.
A Honda satellite option for Rossi is a long shot. The idea that Rossi would accept crumbs from the Honda table, riding a satellite bike of lower spec that those of Dani Pedrosa and rookie Marc Márquez, is extravagantly unlikely.
Although Honda's Livio Suppo seemed, at one point, to be sending Valentine cards to Valentino through the Italian press, but that was just sweet talk intended to divert attention from the unexpected retirement announcement of Casey Stoner. After the acrimonious separation between Honda and Rossi at the end of 2003, no one with any knowledge of the inner workings of HRC considered that there was any chance whatsoever of Rossi ever riding a factory Honda again.

Tribuna. The literal translation is “grandstand” but the word seems to have evolved from Roman times when a Tribunal was a raised platform for addressing the troops or administering justice. Find yourself in the middle of Tribuna Mugello (or any other jam packed Ducati grandstand) and you’ll see just how short that string is back to Roman times.
It starts the first time the Ducati Corse riders pass on the track the first session of the weekend and the Ducati passion crescendo rises as the race day gets closer. On Sunday it all steps up a notch when the Desmodromiclub of Roma steps in to oversee the over the top display of Ducati love the tribuna Mugello is so famous for, the card stunt. It’s something different every time, but it’s always a grand gesture, a literal embrace from thousands of Ducati fans to their riders and the world.
It all started at Mugello but now they take place at many of the races and the grandstand at the IndyGP is actually called the Project Mugello grandstand, named that because at Indy we wanted to do a card stunt that would make the Italians proud. We got a hurricane instead....

Valentino Rossi has denied he is trying to influence Ducati to re-sign current factory team-mate Nicky Hayden over British rider Cal Crutchlow for next year’s MotoGP world championship.
The 33-year-old, who kicked off practice for his home race at Mugello with the ninth fastest time, denied he had said that his preference would be to partner Hayden in 2013, should he agree to remain with the Bologna factory next season.
Rossi hasn’t yet decided where his own future lies but Ducati has been negotiating with Crutchlow for a two-year contract.
Crutchlow was anticipating getting a written contract to mull over at Ducati’s home race in Mugello this weekend but that is not going to happen....More HERE
