BSB News. Alex Polita swells the Ducati Panigale ranks with a return aboard the JHP Racing 1199 at Donington Park.
Alex Polita will be back on the MCE British Superbike Championship grid for the final four rounds of the 2012 season after securing a return with JHP Racing.
The former FIM Superstock 1000 champion began the season with the Jentin Doodson team aboard the brand-new Ducati 1199 Panigale, but was left without a ride when Jentin and Doodson split and the latter outfit returned to Honda machinery.
Almost three months later, Polita will once again be riding a Panigale 1199, but this time under the banner of JHP Racing, which was also involved with Jentin Doodson by providing technical support.
Polita first sampled the bike during a BSB test at Donington Park last month and will be back at the circuit for his first outing aboard the Italian machine, though he says the event will be treated as a 'test' ahead of a full 2013 campaign.

An emphatic and confident double win for James Folkard (Minards Pavlou Solicitors/Win43.com) this weekend cemented his position as one of the front-runners in the Ducati 848 Challenge. After some strong results at Snetterton and Misano, a first win for the man from Liverpool seemed inevitable, and this weekend at the Ducati Manchester sponsored Oulton Park round he walked away with a maximum points haul.
Robbie Brown (Ducati Manchester) could only manage a third and a second despite feeling good about his chances for a victory, but he won’t be getting too worried yet as he extended his lead over closest rival Darren Fry (Hirebase Ducati Coventry) to 62.5 points. Brown showed maturity in both races, keeping his cool despite not always being in his usual top position, and walking away with some valuable championship points.
The Friday free practice session was cut very short as a result of earlier rain delays and a red flag as Mike Edwards (Ohlins@P&H Motorcycles) took an uncomfortable tumble. This left the riders with little setup information going into the unexpectedly dry sessions on Saturday. More HERE

Bikesportnews.com, in all its glory, will emerge into pitlane on Saturday to take part in the opening Ducati 848 Challenge race of the 2012 season.
Everything you just read is not strictly true. In fact none of it is. After being invited to ride the VIP bike at the season opener and finding someone had replaced all of our talent with age and lard, we have asked young snotter Ben Field, who will also be running in the British Supersport Cup this season, to win, erm, race it for us. And the fool agreed.
So check back over the weekend to see how he/we are getting on. Meawhile, here's some useful information on the series.
The 848 Challenge was the talk of the BSB paddock last year due to the close and exciting racing that transfixed audiences throughout the eight rounds as every one of the sixteen races went down to the wire.

The former British 250GP Champ gets his Ducati dialled in...
Moto Rapido Ducati's Scott Smart has completed a full shakedown test at Cadwell Park today and leaves the Lincolnshire circuit in a positive frame of mind following the difficulties at Brands Hatch two weeks ago.
Smart accompanied team boss Steve Moore to the Ducati factory last week in order to get the 1199 Panigale fuelling correct before this weekend's British Superbike opener at the Kent circuit and says he is feeling a lot more confident.
"It was good to get some laps under our belt and just get a lot of things sorted out before the weekend. The fuelling is now pretty-much there with the Motec ECU and we now know where we have to make some adjustments and improvements during the test day on Friday," said Smart, speaking to bikesportnews.com this evening....more

In 2012, along with the established stars such as Noriyuki Haga, "Shakey" Byrne and Chris Walker, there will be a new name on the grid - Abdulaziz bin Laden.
Aladdin, as he is known to his friends, is teaming up with the late Barry Sheene's nephew, Scott Smart, to take on some of the world's best motorcycle racers. This is big news for the UAE as it is not often that a home-grown champion makes it to the big time. BSB is one step down from the FIM World Superbike Championship....more

Although the Ducati Panigale wont be seen in World superbike trim till 2013, it'll be raced in the British superbike series
The Ducati Panigale has been a massive media success and, even in these recessionary times, early sales are said to be strong. The fact that defending World superbike champion Carlos Checa will still be running the old 1199 in this year's WSB championship has left some people wondering what it will be like on track in superbike trim.
Well, the wait is over. Or almost. There will be four Ducati Panigales in the British superbike championship – three in the Supebike class and one in Supestock 1000. And Ducati is taking things seriously, with Ducati superbike racing guru, former Troy Bayliss crew chief and team manager Ernesto 'Ernie' Marinelli helping with the Moto Rapido bikes (seen with British Ducati tuning legend John Hackett of JHP fame).
Suggestions that Ernie was just doing some shopping in Oxford street and just popped into Brands were discounted. "We had 23 requests for race kit bikes and parts from various teams around the world," explained Marinelli, "and all of that data and feeback will come back to us to help us develop a better bike, so it's been a good start in those terms."...more

Pirelli welcomes the introduction of new star riders, teams and circuits combined with ‘limited electronics’ regulations designed to encourage rider skill, as the MCE British Superbike Championship looks to go even bigger for 2012! BSB News.Moto Rapido and Jentin Doodson take delivery of the Ducati 1199 Panigales they will be racing in the 2012 MCE British Superbike Championship.
The countdown towards the start of the 2012 MCE British Superbike Championship can officially begin for Moto Rapido and Jentin Dooson after taking delivery of their brand-new Ducati 1199 Panigales.
The British-based operations will make a little bit of history when they line-up on the grid at Brands Hatch in April with the Italian machine, becoming the first teams in the world to race the much anticipated new twin-cylinder bike.
The bike, which has been lauded in the motorcycle press since its launch, goes on sale this year, but will not be raced on the World Superbike stage until 2013 at the earliest, thus enabling Moto Rapido and Jentin Doodson to give it its series debut in the UK instead...more
